Melissa Fahlstrom, Owner and Chef of Sugar Whipped Bakery, was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Park Hill High School, she moved to New York City to study Musical Theatre.
Her baking habits started to take over her auditioning habits, and a hobby blossomed into a career. While in New York, Melissa worked with Dylan’s Candy Bar to create a new line of cupcakes and desserts for the cafe in their flagship store. She designed wedding and celebration cakes for a growing private customer base. She also catered for events such as the Drama Desk Awards and worked as a pastry chef for Orso and Joe Allen in midtown Manhattan.
Although her business was continuing to grow, she felt a pull back towards her home state of Missouri. During a visit home for Christmas and a trip up to Plattsburg, she fell in love with the town and the empty bakery space.
An offer was made, papers were signed, and construction began by the amazing local contractors, Hartzell and Sons.
On August 3rd, 2017, Sugar Whipped’s first brick and mortar store opened
for business!
Sugar Whipped is open 6 days a week, selling donuts and savory breakfast items, pastries, cupcakes, and other sweet treats. The menu is always changing and growing with seasonal items and holiday specials.
Sugar Whipped also does special orders, catering, cakes and custom sugar printing.
