》 WHY SHOULD I LIST MY BUSINESS?
It’d probably be faster to list the reasons you shouldn’t but here’s a few:
1. People are looking for YOU. While other sites may allow you to denote if you’re women-owned it’s difficult to find what you need when you need it. The List is designed to make it easy to find, hire, shop at and collaborate with women-owned companies.
2. It’s not a phone book. CB Listings are landing pages that show your personality, products and more. People are able to search for the specific services or products they need and get a feel for your brands personality and values before clicking to your site or social media resulting in more conversions. (A landing page on a directory site for $5-$15/month!)
3. It’s more than what you sell, it’s who you are. There’s a shift and people want to know who they’re buying from. They care about your values, what you do and the people behind the business. We help you share that info at a glance.
4. SEO. Crossing Broadway allows you to use consistent branding and link to all of your social media and websites. Search engines such as GOOGLE love branded businesses and it increases your chances of being found here and at your other homes on the web.
》 WHY ARE THERE DIFFERENT DIVISIONS SUCH AS VOICES, BUSINESS SERVICES, LOCAL & BRANDS?
Our goal is to help people find women-owned businesses. Considering they make up over 35% of the companies nationwide (not counting professionals also include in The List) that’s a lot of information to sort though. By creating divisions our searchers are able to find what they need a lot easier and it decreases the listings to sort through before finding yours.
》 I HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA AND A WEBSITE, WHY DO I NEED A LISTING?

》 WILL YOU SET UP MY LISTING?
We understand the entrepreneur life! That’s why we created the admin add on! This option allows us to do the data entry for you for a one-time fee of $25. A rep will work with you one on one to set it up but it will require 1 email and a phone conversation.
Not in the budget at this time? Use our Listing Tips to help you get started.
》 HOW DO I GET TO THE TOP OF THE LIST?
There’s no way to be “first” because people are able to filter by a number of factors. However, there are ways to boost your listing:
1) Ask for recommendations. Tell your client you’re on The List and ask them to favorite and recommend you.
2) The List values activity and time so it’s best to sign up as soon as possible and keep your listing up to date.
3) Be a BADASS. The Badass package gives you a featured banner and our search results favor those listings.
4) Keywords & Categories: Details below.
》 HOW DO I GET PEOPLE TO VIEW MY LISTING?
Increasing your ranking is one thing, getting people to click to your listing is another. Here are some things to keep in mind:
1) Images: Images can speak 1,000 words. Make sure your featured image displays well both in the search and profile page.
2) Description: Our listing page has 200 words available for your description. Use this to clearly say what you do and show personality. If you’re professional keep it by the book but if you’re whimsical or funny or sarcastic show that!
》 WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CATEGORIES AND TAGS? WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?
Categories and Tags are ways that clients can find you. Categories are more broad topics such as Business Services or Cosmetics. These are also created ahead of time and businesses choose the ones that best fit them. Tags are more specific such as your exact services or location. You can use suggested tags or create your own.
》 HOW DO I CHOOSE MY LISTING TAGS?
You have a limited number of tags available to describe your business, 10 for basic listings and 25 for Badass Listings. The fun part is determining what tags are the most beneficial.
We recommend brainstorming the top keywords that people would use to find you. We always suggest using #WomenOwned and your city (#KansasCity).
Example, if you’re a salon and spa your tags could look something like this: #WomenOwned #Kansas City #Spa #Salon #Haircolor #Manicure #Pedicure #Massage #SelfCare #Stylist #Facial #WaxingServices
》 HOW DO I EDIT MY LISTING?
1) LOGIN: Users > Login
2) PROFILE: My List > Profile
3) LISTINGS: Click Listings
4) Click your listing and edit the information!
》 HOW DO I KNOW WHAT CATEGORY MY BUSINESS BELONGS IN?
It’s easy! Just determine which one of these fits you best:
> Local: My business is determined by my locality because of the necessity of a physical location, laws, licenses or something similar.
> Voices: I am an influencer, speaker, podcaster or author and my listing is centered on my personal brand.
> Business to Business: My business is centered on helping other businesses.
> Brands: I have products or services that is or can be sold or promoted in various locations or I can do business with anyone from anywhere.
》 WHAT IS CROSSING BROADWAY?
To put it simply, Crossing Broadway is the brand that brings women together. We do this in a few different ways:
> T-shirts and apparel: People won’t always listen to you but they will always read your t-shirt so we use apparel to spread our messages.
> The Market: Our Market (CrossingBroadway.com) allows makers to sell their products on our platform. Think Etsy or Amazon but all US-based women-owned companies.
> The List: Our directory site that allows you to search for women-owned businesses in a range of categories from one location.
》 WHY?
There are countless reasons but here are a few:
> Funding: With less access to capital women-owned businesses are forced to take on more debt but are offered less for higher interest rates. Case in point: In 2019 the E-Cigarette company JUUL got more VC funding than all female founded companies combined. In 2020 the amount of funding received DROPPED by about 26%.
> Sales: Women-owned businesses account for 42% of all businesses but roughly 8% of sales.
> Representation: Large corporations have more CEO’s named John than women. The glass ceiling may have been broken in many areas but we’re still pulling ourselves up one at a time. We believe the path to market domination is together and we’re building the platforms to make it happen.
> Social Good: Women reinvest up to 90% of their income in their families and communities compared to 40% for men
> Pay Gap & Jobs Lost: While the pay gap is closing it’s still there at $.82 compared to $1. In addition, with the Covid Pandemic, millions of women were driven out of the workforce, dropping their participation to just 57%, the lowest it’s been since 1988.
